Draft · to be reviewed by a lawyer before launch
The agreement between you (or the company you sign up for) and Contracts.io when you use our app, browser extension, iOS app or API.
Last updated 26 October 2026
Contracts.io is a place to draft, negotiate and sign contracts with the other side, with an AI assistant called Lex. “We” means Contracts.io Ltd. “You” means the person using the service and, where you sign up for a company, that company.
You own what you upload, write and agree in Contracts.io. You give us only the permission we need to store it, show it to the people you share it with, and run the features you ask for (including Lex). We don’t sell it. On Pro, Team and Enterprise we never use it to train AI. On Free and Plus you also let us use de-identified content from your own side to improve Lex, which you can switch off in Settings › Data & privacy; we never use the other side’s content. See Privacy and How Lex works.
Lex explains, compares against your playbook and drafts wording. It does not give legal advice and it can be wrong. You decide what to accept, send and sign. For advice on your situation, ask a qualified lawyer.
Electronic signatures made in Contracts.io record who signed, which version, when, and the consent they gave. Whether a signature is valid for a particular document depends on the law that governs it. Some documents (for example certain deeds) need more than an electronic signature.
Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly. You can upgrade at any time (pro rata) and downgrade or cancel from Settings › Plan; a downgrade takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. You can export everything before you leave.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings › Data. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why. Signed contracts and their audit trail stay as the legal record for the people who signed them.
We run the service with reasonable skill and care. We are not responsible for the terms you choose to agree. Nothing here limits liability that the law says cannot be limited. Our total liability in a year is capped at the fees you paid us in the previous twelve months.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If we change them in a way that matters, we tell you at least 30 days before.
